The Culinary Institute of America operates their Greystone facility in St. Helena. The building dates back to the late 1800’s and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. They offer cooking demonstrations and single day classes for food and wine lovers. The Spice Islands Marketplace offers everything related to the culinary arts, with daily weekday tours, and afternoon tours on weekends. On campus dining includes a casual atmosphere at Gatehouse Restaurant, and The Bakery Café has a wonderful assortment of coffees and baked goods as well.
Robert Louis Stevenson Museum
St. Helena was home to the famous writer, Robert Louis Stevenson, and the town has a museum to commemorate his works. As your family learns about this awe-inspiring man, you can see exhibits and artifacts which illustrate his life and learn how our beautiful area contributed to his writings. The Robert Louis Stevenson Museum is free to the public every afternoon Tuesday through Saturday, and private after-hours tours are available by special appointment.
The Christopher Hill Gallery
Located on Main Street, in St. Helena, this contemporary art gallery features 2 and 3 dimensional art, and provides custom framing to corporate and individual clients. The gallery has been in operation for 15 years, and is open weekdays except Tuesdays, from mid-morning until after 5:00. Napa Valley Aloft
A warm springtime day is perfect for family excursions aboard a hot air balloon. There are several hot air balloon tours available in the area, but Napa Valley Aloft is one of the oldest and offers a variety of options for origination and balloon size. Their balloons are FAA certified, and several package deals are available. You are going to have an appetite at the end of the ride, so plan on sticking around for brunch after your landing.
